Brussels Sprouts Roasting by an Open Fire
With a little help from Carl’s fire pit, our garden team had a wonderful winter harvest morning. We harvested collards for New Year’s, taking some home for our own traditional southern New Year’s meals, but sending most of it to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. Garden collard harvest – Wed., Dec. 31st at 10am!
Happy winter days to you all! This coming Wednesday, December 31st we will gather at the garden at 10am to harvest collards and other overwintering crops for ourselves and the food bank. Collards are part of many southerners’ New Year’s traditional meal, symbolizing good fortune in the coming year. In addition to our garden work on scheduled garden workdays, including soil prep, planting, watering, weeding etc., there are other important supporting tasks that make the garden go.
