Fellowship time with fresh tomato sandwiches, watermelon, and refreshments

Please register so Nick and Peggy know how many supplies to bring. Tomatoes and watermelons will be from our own garden, of course!

The sandwich is named after John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. In 1762, the famously busy and gambling-prone nobleman ordered his servants to bring him meat tucked between two slices of bread. This allowed him to eat with one hand without interrupting his card games or getting greasy fingers on his cards.

And now presenting the tomato sandwich! This beloved, messy combination of garden-grown beefsteak tomatoes and thick mayonnaise is a deeply ingrained tradition synonymous with Southern culture. Then top it off with a thick, juicy slice of our amazing watermelons! The first record of watermelons being cultivated was between 3,500 and 4,000 years ago in Egypt. Watermelon seeds and leaves, as well as paintings, have been found in many Egyptian tombs, including King Tut’s. Rest assured, ours will be fresh and not mummified.
