This Saturday our 2026 season begins at 8am! It looks like it will be a lovely day and we’ve got a lot to do! There are many beds to be prepped and planted – potatoes, kale, cabbage, swiss chard, broccoli and more. We will be trying to get the crops in the ground as soon as possible so that we will be able to transition to summer crops in a timely manner. Please come out and help us Saturdays 8am-noon or Tuesdays beginning next week 5-7pm.
A couple of notes about our new year:
- We have new t-shirts, long sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts! Same design – but now we have all the sizes, so if you’ve wanted some Garden swag but we didn’t have your size, ask a garden leader! In addition, we are working a new garden hat. It will be a baseball style cap with an embroidered garden logo. They are in the works now, so stay on the lookout for these coming soon!
- Work has begun on the new ADA section of the garden (beside the shed). A small retaining wall has been built and we’ll be working on leveling and compacting the ground so that wheelchairs and walkers can navigate this area. A prospective Eagle scout is working on a plan to build table gardens that people can access from wheelchairs for this area. We’ll also be working on a special parking area for ADA access. Most of this work will be done outside of garden hours so it doesn’t disrupt our normal tasks, but keep an eye out for construction areas. If you know of anyone who might be interested in gardening but has mobility limitations, please share our progress in this area with them.
- Remember to renew your membership for 2026! We are working on a new streamlined process and will have more information for you soon.
We hope to see you this Saturday! And please invite your neighbors and friends!
Anne
