Our garden family cleaned up pretty nicely for a night of culinary adventure, as we shared a scrumptious array of hand-crafted dishes everyone brought for our annual Fall Harvest Dinner. We had everything from authentic African goat stew and rice to butternut squash pie made fresh from our very own garden. Let’s just say nobody went home hungry!
As the evening got underway, Anne proudly made the amazing announcement that, even though we still have a month to go, we have already donated more food than has ever been done in the history of the garden (both gardens):
6,100 pounds donated!
This beats last year, which was the record-holder at the time at 4,871 pounds . . . a 25% increase, and we’re not done yet!
Many thanks to Mike and Tonya Proctor for hosting our event again at their beautiful 1920’s-vintage home. It was a great way to celebrate another successful season at Simple Gifts Community Garden. Don’t forget, we have two more Tuesday evening workdays, ending Oct. 27 and six more Saturday workdays, ending Nov. 21. See you back at the garden!
