Peak at the Garden

Twelve members of the youth group at The Peak Church in Apex came to the garden this morning to lend a hand with the tasks at hand. It’s a good thing they brought two 10-gallon water dispensers, because it was quite warm (and dusty!) today.

We also planted a wide variety of additional pollinator and companion plants throughout the garden, and with many of our existing pollinator plants blooming now, it is really looking pretty. The monarch instars are happily munching on our prodigious milkweed. The strawberries are doing nicely again this year and are starting to come in quickly, as are the lettuce, radish, spinach, Swiss chard, and arugula crops planted earlier. Also, the seven rows of cover crops were all rototilled and prepped for planting. Come on out Tuesday and help plant some of our summer crops!
