On a Saturday morning in the summer of 2021, the Simple Gifts Community Garden in Apex was at the peak of life, exploding with color. Green and orange peppers grew. Orange monarchs landed on pink milkweed. Dozens of raised beds of produce grew, all fed by fresh water from a shimmering pond. In addition to our garden work on scheduled garden workdays, including soil prep, planting, watering, weeding etc., there are other important supporting tasks that make the garden go.
