Come celebrate Nathan!
I hope you all can join us for our last workday of 2024 this Saturday from 9am to noon. We will be planting asparagus crowns, weeding and tucking in some of the beds for winter (meaning thick layers of leaf mulch) and celebrating Nathan Jesperson’s achievement as we award him the bronze President’s Volunteer Service Award! Gardeners and Conservationists Banish Wisteria from the Kingdom!
Simple Gifts Gardeners and South Wake Conservationists joined forces today to remove all the wisteria that has been forming a thicket and choking the trees next to the garden. This was a force to reckon with, and the wisteria didn’t stand a chance! Vines as thick as 3 inches were literally strangling these towering trees and even left deep, indelible scars once removed. In addition to our garden work on scheduled garden workdays, including soil prep, planting, watering, weeding etc., there are other important supporting tasks that make the garden go.
