


With a little help from Carl’s fire pit, our garden team had a wonderful winter harvest morning. We harvested collards for New Year’s, taking some home for our own traditional southern New Year’s meals, but sending most of it to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. As a bonus, we also were able to harvest broccoli,

Simple Gifts Gardeners and South Wake Conservationists joined forces today to remove all the wisteria that has been forming a thicket and choking the trees next to the garden. This was a force to reckon with, and the wisteria didn’t stand a chance! Vines as thick as 3 inches were literally strangling these towering trees

Not at this garden, though. The team knocked out the harvest in 30 minutes, and yet filled an SUV with beautiful produce, including carrots, peppers, kale, spinach, pak choi, Swiss chard, lettuce, arugula, and a nice bunch of raspberries.
