Help with a Big Harvest on Saturday – No Garden on July 4th

With our 1/2 acre plot fully planted now, the fruits of our labors are starting to come in fast and furious! Yesterday (Tues. 7/2) we harvested 110 pounds of tomatoes, cucumbers, yellow squash, pattypan squash, zucchini, eggplant, green peppers, banana peppers, hot peppers, green beans, and raspberries. And that is just three days after the previous harvest on Saturday!

Garlic Week!

After harvesting our bountiful spring garlic crop on June 1, they have been hung with care to dry at Anne’s place and are now ready to go! We will be distributing these over the next three garden days (Sat. 7/6, Tues. 7/9, and Thurs. 7/11). Some will be kept for seed stock for next year, but the rest goes to our food bank partners, with plenty left for our garden members to take home as well. Two-thirds of the world’s garlic is grown in China, but you can’t beat the Simple Gifts garlic grown right here in Apex!

July 4th Break

As many of our members will be celebrating with friends and family, there will be no garden workday on Thurs., July 4th. Happy Independence Day!

Pollinators

Our pollinator gardens and companion plants are flourishing, adding even more beauty to our garden. The pollinators are loving it!
