The garden is located at the end of Tingen Rd. in Apex on a corner of land owned by YMCA of the Triangle, adjacent to a pond used for garden irrigation. There is parking in the cul-de-sac, as well as along the fence parallel to the road. Below, you can see a large-scale view of the property, showing the 100’x200′ (1/2 acre) fenced-in garden area, as well as key features, both current and planned.

Garden layout

The fenced-in garden area has four vertical sections perpendicular to the road, labeled A-D. At the top and bottom of each section is a strip used for a wide variety of pollinator plants. There are twelve 40′ rows used for rotating crops in each section. Row twelve is reserved for perennials, such as raspberries or blueberries. A pumphouse delivers water through a precise irrigation system directed to each row, and drip tape runs the length of a row to slowly water the plants on an automated schedule. Compost bins are located on the south end of the garden and piles of leaf mulch and wood chips are stored across from the cul-de-sac for use throughout the gardening season.

Here is a sample task list, which is updated each workday to show what is planted where and what tasks are required that day.
