Dhruv Manchikalapati is working toward earning his Eagle Scout rank with his BSA troop, Troop 320, and plans to build accessible garden tabls for our garden this spring as his project. Traditional garden beds are placed on the ground, which makes gardening difficult or impossible for elderly individuals and people with disabilities. These raised beds solve that problem by being elevated to a comfortable height, and their tapered sides allow plant roots to grow deep while making gardening accessible for everyone.

To help fund this project, Dhruv is hosting a blood drive on Feb. 21st (see details in the the flyer above). By coming out to donate blood, you’ll be helping save lives and supporting the construction of these accessible garden beds for the community. Your participation is incredibly important, so please consider signing up and attending if you are able. If you’re unable to attend the blood drive, donations are also greatly appreciated. All funds will go directly toward materials and construction costs for the garden beds.
