Around twenty garden volunteers answered the call to get summer crops in the ground today. The teamwork was exceptional, and we were pleased to also welcome two new members to the garden! All the live plants (tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant) were planted after preparing the soil, plus a bonus row of pattypan squash by seed, resulting in eight new rows of summer crops. We were short a few live plants, so those will be brought Tuesday to complete those rows. Some companion plants were also planted to further promote crop success.
We are also getting a pretty nice harvest this early in the season. Today, we harvested some beautiful strawberries, an abundance of kale, radishes, and lettuce, totaling 18 pounds. And the pollinator plants are just starting to come into their glory.

We hope to see you Tuesday, as we continue to “prep and plant” for summer with seeds this time.
