What a great day at the garden! There was a whole lot of plantin’ and weedin’ going on, and the weather was perfect. We had a tremendous turnout and were happy to welcome so many new members. It was especially good to see the enthusiasm of the kids that came with their parents. One told me, as she was leaving, “It was fun and I want to come back!”
Many thanks to Larry for nurturing trays of kale, broccoli, and cabbage seedlings for us to plant today. The group also uncovered the strawberries and gave them a good weeding, as well as planting turnips, beets, spinach, and Swiss chard. Next up on the planting agenda: peas, potatoes, and more lettuce and spinach.
Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time starts tonight, giving us an hour longer of daylight in the afternoons. Next Tuesday, we garden 5-7 PM. Hope to see many of you then!
