Normally it Costs Money to Have this Much Fun!

Not at this garden, though. The team knocked out the harvest in 30 minutes, and yet filled an SUV with beautiful produce, including carrots, peppers, kale, spinach, pak choi, Swiss chard, lettuce, arugula, and a nice bunch of raspberries. Then, everyone turned their attention to the “other side: of the entrance road. Time to clean up the joint! All kinds of stuff piled up in the woods from the move a year and a half ago was disentangled from vines and triaged: keep, trash, and TBD. We even unearthed NCDOT signs that had been tossed in the woods (“Road Work Ahead” and “End Road Work”). Then everyone started in on the massive inundation of invasive wisteria vines that are strangling the native trees. There was a lot of yanking, clipping, sawing, and occasional swinging. In the end, the pride of conquering all this was evident!

More to come. We have stuff to haul away and more vines to remove, after next week’s harvest is done. You can’t beat the teamwork and enthusiasm of working together. Won’t you join us next Saturday?
