We picked one of the biggest watermelons last night and we’re going to test our melon harvesting skills tomorrow by cutting it to share with everyone. I’ll bring it in a cooler on ice, so bring your appetite and maybe a napkin and we’ll see if the watermelons are as good as the cantaloupes have been.
Our summer crops are slowing down a bit so we’re ending Thursday garden workdays effective immediately (just a few weeks early). We hope to see you all on Tuesday evenings (6-8pm) and Saturday mornings (8am-noon).
A few needs/wants that you might be able to help with:
- Large decorative pot (like the ones just outside the gate at the top of the garden) – we’d like to add a pot of lemon balm
- Additional compost pickup volunteers – we need to amend our soil and we’re not able to make enough compost without additional pickups. This could be once a month or more often if you like. Let Anne know if you can help (anneh21@gmail.com)
- Painters! – the carpentry improvements/repairs to the shed are almost complete so if you’re up for caulking, painting trim or touching up walls, please let Anne know.
Hope to see you all tomorrow! We’ve got fall crops to plant tomorrow and in the coming weeks!
