Thanks to Eagle-Scout candidate Yagya Kasera of BSA Troop 320 in Fuquay Varina, Simple Gifts Community Garden now has a beautiful, new split-rail fence along the road frontage. This not only enhances the overall appearance of the garden, as you approach it, but it provides a great safety barrier to prevent people accidentally backing their cars into the ditch! Per BSA guidelines, the funds are raised by the scout, and the project is fully planned and executed by the scout, directing others in the actual work. The project resulted in a 180 foot fence, executed over three shifts during the weekend of March 2. The only part adults needed to do was to drill the 18 post holes, because scouts are not permitted to operate power equipment. Carl and Monty heard it was 18 holes, but soon learned this is not golf!

It was a pleasure seeing these scouts work together so well to provide such a wonderful service project to our garden. It really turned out well, and Yagya can be very proud of a job well done!
