Saturday Workday 11-23-14

Hello, gardeners!

We are hoping for a big turnout tomorrow morning — Saturday November 22 — at our workday from 9 am – 12 noon. We have lots of beds to “tuck in” for the winter with leaf mulch that was delivered to us from A.B. Parker Landscaping.

If we have a large crew we will be done with the 2014 garden tomorrow, and we can turn our attention to Thanksgiving next week and to Christmas parades and parties the week after. The Fall Garden Workdays will be over, and we can set our sights on Spring 2014 when the garden reawakens.

We still have lots of sweet potatoes! Buckets and buckets of sweet potatoes! There are so many ways to add sweet potatoes into your Thanksgiving feast — baked sweet potatoes with brown sugar and butter, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon — mmmm! Or how about sweet potato turnovers, sweet potato pie, homemade sweet potato chips, sweet potato fries, roasted sweet potatoes, sweet potato soup! Oh, my!

For a list of delicious sweet potato recipes, see http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/5-ways-to-cook-a-sweet-potato.htm

So come out tomorrow to help us tuck in the garden for the winter, and take home some delicious sweet potatoes for the holidays.
