Hi, gardeners!
First, we wanted to remind you that there are no more Thursday night workdays at the garden. They will pick up again next year when the harvest starts coming in. We still have Tuesday workdays from 5pm – 7pm and Saturday workdays from 8am – 12 noon.
Our garden sponsor, Apex UMC, is holding a community service weekend. Our garden service project is Sunday – Sept. 28th from 8am – 12 noon. We are hoping to build a new Pollinator Garden, plant a blueberry bed (10A and 10B) and do miscellaneous garden projects. In addition, we have special guests coming from NC State University who are experts on native pollinators. For more information see the coverage on the day at:
We would love to have you join us. Here’s how to sign up:
– Click on the link http://www.apexumc.org/fia
– Scroll down and click on “Working at the Simple Gifts Community Garden”
– Scroll down and click the “check” box and then “Sign Up”
– You are signing up on “Sign-Up Genius”
– Share your sign-up on your Facebook Timeline and/or Twitter
We have made spaces for at least 75 people on that Sunday so please think of neighbors and friends who you could invite via Facebook, Sign-up Genius, or this email. It will be an exciting day!
We would like a couple gardeners to consider bringing a “garden snack” such as the chocolate zucchini bread recipe that was shared by Taki Donovan. Please let us know if you are interested, and we will send you the recipe.
Also, we need a couple of POP-UP TENTS. Please let us know if you can bring a tent that Sunday, Sept. 28th, for the morning.
Please come, and please sign up. It will be a fun day at the garden!
