New Years Eve Day

Hello good garden people! Happy end of the year!

As is our tradition, the garden will be open briefly on Tuesday, New Year’s eve to allow any interested garden members to drop by to get greens for their family’s traditional New Year’s dinner. I’ll be there starting at 10:00 for about an hour, if you’d like to drop by.

We have collards, kale and several heads of cabbage available; there may also be some turnips, carrots, and some new sprouts on the broccoli to pick. I’d suggest considering perhaps splitting a head of cabbage with another garden member to help share the goodies across more folks. Please only take what your family needs for your New Year’s dinner; thanks for helping ensure that as many folks as possible are able to enjoy our harvest.

You’re likely familiar with the southern tradition of eating collards (or other greens) and black-eyed peas for New Year’s for good luck. While I’m not superstitious and really don’t believe that there’s a correlation between what we eat and “luck”, I’m a good Southern girl and enjoy the tradition. Plus I really like collards and peas! 🙂

Hope to see you Tuesday morning! Some warm, spiced apple cider may be awaiting you! 🙂

With prayers for a peaceful new year for us all,

Sandra
