Workday – Tuesday 10-1-13

It was a lovely night last night at the garden! Just a handful of us there, but we finished prepping the two beds that were cleaned out Saturday and planted bok choy in one and onions and leeks in the other.

We talked a little about our strawberry beds. Our thinking is that we will identify two other beds in the garden to grow strawberries, then we will simply take a fork and lift up plants from the existing bed, separate them and transplant them. We will probably invite gardeners to take excess plants home with them. We think this might be the better idea since it will buy us some time to get 1C/D totally cleaned out and renovated either for a spring planting, or just a cover crop to allow them to be rejuvenated. If anybody has a better idea, please let us know. Otherwise, we’ll probably pursue this over the next couple of weeks.
