Hello gardeners. Just a quick reminder that we’ll be working at the garden tomorrow morning starting at 8 and finishing around 11. It’s going to be hot, hot, hot, so I would encourage you to come out early while there’s still a slight chance the temperature will be bearable!
For tomorrow, we’ve got some beds to refurbish then plant in more squash and cucumbers. I believe there’s still a bed of potatoes to harvest, then prep and plant, plus we have tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, peppers and eggplant for harvest. The potato beetles have come back with a vengeance on the eggplant so we need to do a good job of plucking those off and also checking other beds. Weeds are overtaking some of the paths, so some maintenance is due there as well as general weeding. As you can tell, plenty of work to keep everybody busy!
If you are able to make it to the garden in the morning, make sure to use sunscreen and bring plenty of water. And also, I strongly advise spraying yourself with a good insect repellent. I’m not sure if it’s a function of how much rain we’ve had, but the bugs are out in force and they bite!
Hope to see you tomorrow!
Sandra
