Irrigation System at the Garden

Hi garden leaders. We had a small group at the garden last night but what a great time to be outdoors; if only all Saturday mornings could be so nice. 🙂

We noticed last night that the irrigation system was turned off on both sides. We’re not sure when this might have happened but I wanted to describe the setup so you can check it before you leave to be sure it’s turned on. The water is always on at the hose bib; you’ll notice that the faucet handle is missing to prevent it from being turned off. From the hose bib, the water splits with one side going to the irrigation lines and the other to the water hose. Both sides have their own little thumb wheel to turn them on and off. The hose side should be turned off at the end of the workday but the irrigation side needs to be left on. The irrigation is on a timer but the water line must be open in order for it to work. There is a button labeled “Manual” on the timer that you can push to confirm that it’s on, if you have any doubts; this will turn the irrigation system on for 10 minutes and allows you to check that it’s running, to verify that all the connections are intact, etc.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask one of the garden leaders next time you’re there.

Thanks so much to you all for your service in leading the garden!

Sandra
